Oakcrest apartments

Thousand Oaks, California

This 154 unit apartment project was designed to preserve the vast majority of almost 40 mature oak trees while preserving a 14 unit per acre site density. The project consists of 3 different 2-story building types and separate carports. One of the strategies used to maintain the site density was to design a special "carriage" unit that could be located along the parking areas with a minimum ground floor footprint. It won the Gold Nugget Grand Award for what jurors described as highly creative and sensitive site planning and very attractive building designs.
