BBA was invited to participate in a pre-screen competition by a major property owner that asked us to prepare a conceptual site and building design for multiple parcels in Downtown Anaheim. The mixed-use design incorporates many urban design strategies for creating an active and interesting ground level pedestrian experience. Rather than doing the standard modern minimalist architecture that currently dominates many new developments, BBA decided that building forms should be based on a more traditional massing and articulation approach to help establish a more human scale, unique, and recognizable identity to the area.
